The version of ubuntu I use best.
The latest version of Ubuntu that i use best is Ubuntu 9.04 Kosmik koala.I love it!the latest version i have not tried yet is 9.14 even though it is download-able i do not want to loose all of my data just on an upgrade.
I also am happy to say that i passed my second term in college in order to obtain my bachelors degree in IT... I didn't say it would be an easy task but it is an undertaking in the progress. There are some new Operating systems on the horizon (Beware Microsoft Windows) that is taking the software market by storm. These new OSes are Debian based and are very effective in today's new means of computing. The idea of "Cloud" computing is not my personal best idea, but it is a trend that is sweeping the computer world by storm.I don't care much for the idea that everything you put on your pc will be sent up to the clouds. And,if you loose the internet connection, you loose the use of your computer.
That's been a fear of mine ever since i first heard the idea.i can understand that you would not loose your important DATA.However,If I can't access my files, then everything is lost.I like the idea that All my important data use the net server as a backup. But i want my OS on my computer, and all my important data files on it as well. This way,I would not need the internet to access my data.
It would be fantastic to have an OS thats not "Beefy" that wouldn't be filled with all the excess nonsense That would be pleasant to the eye,and still Make it fully functional without using many resources.I tell you,I can sit and write a entire book on this. But,that would only prolong the insistence of the software BLOAT you get with most OSes.
So in conclusion,it would be safe to say that when i get an OS that I fell comfortable with,I stick with it and i use it to it's full potential.I do not leave a good thing.Sure my laptop is "second-Hand" but it is running UBUNTU LINUX on it.Needless to say the amount of RAM on this laptop underscores everyone's expectations. It runs less then 512MB of RAM.And the processor is a Pentium 3,Still it can be a functional piece of equipment regardless.
One cool thing i like about ubuntu is it is FREE.You can download the ISO,and burn to CD as much as you like. You can even sell the CDs you burn.. the software is still free. http;//www.ubuntu.com is where you can find all of the os.
This is about the time when i say farewell till my next installment in "Mike's Tech Corner".Till then,"Happy Computing folks". enjoy!......
